Our first yarn release: Twenty-five hanks of squish, all hand-dyed with our fresh indigo, on really special fibers that dye and bloom beautifully. While traditional fermented indigo creates familiar inky blues, fresh indigo yields softer seaglass shades of denim, ice blue, seafoam and celery. These are fleeting seasonal colors that must be processed and applied within an hour of leaf harvest for the dye to take. No mordants or additives are used, only these remarkable Persicaria tinctoria plants, water and time.
Our "Oceanic" series is layered on 3 ply DK weight Merino and 2 ply heavy worsted/Aran Fine Merino from our friends at Cestari Wool, and two beautiful versions of sport weight alpaca from Aussie Hill, a dear friend's former farm in Bristol. All four bases are incredibly soft — the alpaca is cloudlike and the fine merino feels downright cottony — and all are minimally processed with no pesticides or harsh scouring.
These one-of-a-kind hanks make a sweet locally grown gift for knitters and crocheters, especially paired with a Fruition Seeds lotion bar and beeswax or bayberry candles. I hope you find them as delightful and satisfying as we do.

Fiber Notes and Care: You may notice some indigo shedding as you work with your yarn. This blue or sage green powder will wipe away easily and is not harmful. You may find tiny bits of hay spun into the Merino wool; that's how close it is to the sheep. Please wash your completed garment before wearing to remove any residual material. Hand wash in cool water with wool wash, or machine wash in lingerie bag on cool delicate cycle. Reshape, air dry flat. To hasten drying, roll wet garment in thick absorbent fabric towels before drying flat. Do not wring or twist. Do not tumble dry, dry clean or bleach.
